Off-Topic: My Superbowl Observations

Now that I’ve had a few days to recover from the Patriots’ loss (you can tell my bias), here are some of my observations from Superbowl Sunday:

  • I’m a huge fan of The American Idol, but Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson need a dose of brutal honesty from Simon Cowell about their new music video, Dance Like There’s No Tomorrow, that was unveiled during the pre-game show. Dreadful!
  • It’s fun to watch the ads during the Superbowl, although many of them end up being duds. My favorite: The E-Trade baby trader. Kudos to the agency: Grey Worldwide.
  • TV ads are expensive; online is more interactive. More firms should follow GoDaddy.com’s approach of using TV to drive viewers to its Website.
  • Bill Belichick is not the savior of the planet, nor is he the evil empire. But he is an unbelieveably good football coach who needs to go on What Not To Wear.
  • Chili, wings, and homemade ice cream pies make really good football party fare. Surprisingly, so do mini Reuben sandwiches. Wine is not such a big seller.
  • I’m not very good at estimating pizza consumption; half of what we ordered was left. But I did learn that plain cheese pizza is a 4 to 1 favorite over both pepperoni and onions & peppers.
  • Giants fans are easier to take than Yankees fans. I haven’t had one Giant fan hound me about the game.
  • We need a flat screen TV in our great room.
  • 18 is a much, much, much smaller number than 19.

The bottom line: Can’t wait for next year’s Superbowl in Tampa.

I’d also add that Brady needs to find a new girlfriend. I’m thinking Victoria Secret models can really screw over a QB’s focus. Pun intended.

that was not the music video (paulas and randys). the music video is not out yet. it was just a little test performance.

While it was certainly a music video, you’re saying that it was not THE music video. I’m not sure whether to hold on to hope for Paula/Randy or to shudder about what might come next.
