No Way We Forget, An Ode To 9/11

In memory of the 10th anniversary of 9/11, I wrote this poem…
No Way We Forget
Once in this spot they stood
Tall and proud
Overlooking Lady Liberty
A backdrop to the crowd
That day we remember
No way we forget
One plane, two planes
The pain and the fret
Our finest responded
No way they stand back
Not fearing the darkness
Just caring as they track
The dust settled down
No way to believe
The site and the loss
The might in which we grieve
But that’s not the story
No way it ends there
We rebuild and move on
Not filled with despair
We the people are strong
No way we get swayed
Liberty, justice, tranquility
Our history will not fade
That day we remember
No way we forget
One plane, two planes
The pain and the fret
Forever in this spot we stand
Tall and proud
Overlooking Lady Liberty
A nation unbowed
Here’s a .pdf of the poem that you can download
